Heaven is a Fallacy

I am convinced that heaven does not exist. The evidence is rather overwhelming that this is the situation. The evidence? The dead are the most miserable, mean-spirited, vengeful beings in the universe. If heaven exists, as described by the world’s religions, how could this be? Heaven is roundly believed to be a place of great joy, loveliness, contentment, peace, etc.

Your basic options at death are Heaven and Hell. Now, Hell is often portrayed as a place where vacations are not allowed. Once there, you are THERE. There are even nasties whose job it is to make sure no one leaves. For heaven, you don’t really hear of this degree of incarceration. No one is hiding in the fringing clouds with stun guns ready to detain the escapees. So, any lingering spirits enacting actions on the living Earth would be presumed to be from Heaven (Purgatory also seems to be a place of confinement until you move either upwards or downwards – no furloughs granted).

So, the various manifestations of spiritual energy stem from heaven. Now, from a quick perusal of news reports, television documentaries, literature, television programming and cinema, it is clear that the dead are not happy. Do they ever do anything nice? No. The wreak havoc, carnage, death, destruction, annoyance, revenge….they arm themselves with large and menacing weapons and go after the living with unabashed zeal. They destroy property, they hide things, they make ugly dolls and create evil static on your television set. They are not nice.

Further they are ugly. Truly, objectively ugly. Angels are supposed to be beautiful, lovely to behold…the returned dead are hideous. Oozing, off-colored, malformed, malodorous…even when they are beautiful to start, we find that it is an artifice. Their true appearance will manifest at some point and it is not a pleasant sight. Obviously, these are not angels slumming it for a lark.

If we accept the currently accepted views of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory, then we automatically argue against the existence of Heaven. Hell and Purgatory, I have no documentation to support or refute their reality. I actually feel that Hell is definitely well-guarded. The reason is that the denizens really aren't stalking the Earth. The evil dead tend to target individuals or small groups of campers. The Hellacious dead would target large masses, as they did in life, I feel sure. And, let's face it. Hitler is in Hell and has not come back to Earth. That ham could never resist a camera and the History Channel has no new media footage of his exploits. Ultimately, I think this proliferation of “living dead” is a by-product of the dead finding their post-death options not as plentiful as promised. No happily ever after, no eternal bliss, no flying around with cool wings…perhaps Heaven, if it exists at all, is just as mundane as this plane of existence. Taxes, plumbing problems, speeding tickets, bad marriages, athlete’s foot…I’d want to take an axe to something, myself…
